What personal information SubCommander collects through this website and the launch list, why, and what your rights are.

Who we are
SubCommander is a trading name of Applied AI Solutions Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 17192679. Registered office: 29 Eastwood Breach Lane, Leicester, LE9 7FB. Applied AI Solutions Ltd is the controller of the personal information described here. You can contact us about privacy at [email protected].
What we collect
- The launch list. The form on the launch list page sends nothing itself: it writes an email, and you send it from your own mail program. If you send it, we receive your name, your email address, your country and whatever else is in the message, such as how many boards you would want and what you tell us about your boat.
- Other email. If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you write.
- Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic details of each request, such as IP address, browser type and the page requested, to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- Analytics, only if you accept. See Cookies and analytics below.
We do not ask for sensitive personal information, and we ask you not to include it in your message.
How we use it
We use launch-list details to write to you when the Kickstarter campaign has a date or that date moves, on the day it opens and when it ends, and, if you asked, when the Mini or the RX40 receiver is ready. We also count how many boards people say they would want, to decide how many to make. We do this because you asked us to, and you can withdraw at any time by writing to the same address.
We use other email to reply to you. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries and running the business.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising or pass your address to anyone else.
Who handles it for us
We use a small number of service providers, who process information only on our instructions:
- Cloudflare, which hosts this website and routes our email.
- Microsoft, which provides our email service.
- Google Analytics, which measures how the site is used, only if you accept analytics cookies.
Some of these providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, they rely on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.
If you back the campaign, you do that on Kickstarter, which handles your pledge and your details under its own privacy policy.
How long we keep it
We keep launch-list emails until the campaign has ended and we have told you about anything you asked to hear about, or until you ask to come off the list, whichever is sooner. We keep other email for as long as we need to deal with it. You can ask us to delete your details at any time.
Cookies and analytics
With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how this website is used. If you accept, Google sets cookies in your browser and receives information about your visit, such as the pages you view, the type of device and browser you use and your approximate location. Nothing is loaded and no analytics cookies are set unless you choose Accept on the cookie banner.
You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Your choice is remembered in your browser. Apart from this, the website does not set cookies of its own.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, object to our use of it, and ask for it in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
